Just chillin' on a Fall night

It was soo nice outside tonight. Slade and Savannah had to ride their Jeep and four wheeler tonight. Our friends Kathleen (or Katherkieen as Slde calls her) Jason, and Brendan came over to play for a little while. After they rode the toys we came in and made cupcakes to take on our camping trip. We are going camping Thursday through Saturday while the kids are out of school for Fall Break. I've attached some pics of the kids playing and I hope to post some pics from our camping trip. Hope you all have a GREAT rest of the week and I should post some more this weekend :O)

Our sweet friend Jessica's wedding!

Slade and Savannah were in a wedding htis weekend. Savannah was one of the two flower girls and Slade was the ringbearer. For those of you that don't know, Jessica was our babysitter that kept the kids a few times when Chris and I would go to Atlanta for the night and she would spend the night with the kids. This is especially AWESOME because she says she really doesn't like to keep kids and that Slade and Savannah are the only kids that ever really liked her :O) Anyway, I've attached some pics so you can see my two sweet kiddos all dressed up in their fancy duds. Also, there is a picture of them with our precious friends Tylor and Jordan! Love you girls. Oh yea, there are some with Chris and myself and Mimi and Papa.

Poo Poo In the Potty

Slade has started using the potty for something other than a trash can and we are sooo excited! He pooped in the potty for the first time about a week and a half ago and we called Mimi and Papa and Aunt Christy! He was sooo proud and Savannah jumped right in and gave him stickers and candy as well. The next day, he did it again and then the kids played outside in the sprinkler on the back porch! I have attached some pics so you can see them playing together.

Savannah's Head Trauma

Yesterday, Savannah fell out of the swing backwards when her hands slipped off the chains. She was sitting still but she hit the base of her head hard. Chris was with the children and he heard her fall then the cry and ran to her. He pulled the Daddy card out and told her to shake it off before holding her. He said she began to fall asleep. He said she went inside and laid down on the couch and began to fall asleep again. He went in to check on her and I called about that time. He said she had just gone to the bathroom to throw up b/c she was felt sick to her stomach. She didn't but throw up. She was just nausseated. Anyway, Chris called a frined of ours that is a Doctor and he said we should definitely take her to be seen to make sure she didn't have a head trauma. I got home a few minutes later and we all went to the hospital. I began to call people and have them pray. On the way to the hospital, Savannah almost fell asleep several times and we had to continue to wake her up. There was no bump on her head. This was not a good sign. So, they took her back almost immediately, then we had to wait almost 45 minutes to see the Dr. Within 10 minutes of our being in the back, she began to run around and counted to 120 or so. She was back to her normal self and we felt the back of her head and she had a knot at the base of her head. Chris and I just looked at each other and knew that God had done a miracle. He is soooo good! I just need to thank all of our family, friends and staff family that prayed for our sweet Baby Girl!!! As we prayed last night, she thanked God for healing her and to please heal her Mommy because she loves her so much! Needless to say, I needed a BUNCH of tissues by the end of the prayer. She woke up in an incredible mood today and she is completely fine!

GREAT book!

I was having lunch with two great friends on Monday and one was talking about a new book she just read. It is called, "The Shack". I purchased it at Barnes and Noble (it IS cheaper at Wal-Mart but I was already at Barnes and Noble so I picked one up. I began reading it at 8:00 on Tuesday night and Chris came and found me at 10:30 and asked if I was going to be finished pretty soon :O) So, I've never really been very fond of reading until about a year and a half ago. It all began with the book "Redeeming Love" and now I can't stop. At least if I find a really great read. Anyway, so I made it half way through the book on Tuesday night and I cannot wait to get back to it. It's GREAT! It makes you think about God in such a different and more personal way. I would suggest you all pick one up. Have a GREAT day and I'll try to get some pictures of the kids on here pretty soon. Savannah has begun taking ballet lessons and Slade is still hitting a baseball like a champ. I'll update soon I promise! :O)

Yay to true friends!

I have just been thinking throughout the day about how blessed I am to have some really true friends! God created us to have realtionships and I am so very proud of the true friends God has placed in my life! A true friend is one who will call you out when you have made a mistake or are in the middle of making an unwise choice. A true friend is one who will call or text you and ask how you are doing and not stop there. They will then let you know they've just prayed for you or if they are on the phone with you will just stop and pray for or with you right then and there. Also, a true friend doesn't just take and take and take from you but also returns favors and loves you back! WOW!!! Do I have some AWESOME friends. God is so amazing and I cannot thank Him for all of my TRUE FRIENDS!!!! If you don't have any true friends, you are missing out on such a blessing. Open yourself up to receive a blessing and to also give back to others. That's the only way it will work. Have a blessed day and love on those that God has given you for such a time as this! Thanks to all of my precious friends that I love so much! :O)

Ok, so my sweet babies are doing GREAT! We were just chillin this evening and I told them we could go for a walk and then we had to take a bath (to wash off the pb&j sandwich off Slade's puffy cheeks)and get ready for bed b/c they have school tomorrow. Savannah looked at me with the biggest surprise look on her face and said, "School?" I told her that yes tomorrow is a school day. She jumped up and down and said she could not wait for school. She loves school and can't wait to see her friends. I was thoroughly PLEASED but a tad bit perplexed. The poor child has come home the last two Fridays with war wounds. We got a call from the school two Fridays ago saying that someone had hit her in the face with a stick but that she's fine. There were two kids playing with sticks and one threw it at the other and Savannah just happened to get in the way! Well.....the phone rang again this Friday and it was the school again. I answered and it was Savannah's teacher. Her first words were, "Kim, I promise I'm taking care of your baby!" I asked what happened and she said Savannah had been hit in the face again by a stick but that they are cracking down on the kids playing with sticks. It was about an inch long scratch but it was VERY close to her eye. Mrs. Pruett, her teacher, was VERY apologetic and promised that they are doing everything they can to take care of this problem. I AM TOO!!!!! Savannh now knows to RUN whenever she sees anyone holding a stick. I told her that I didn't care if people thought she was crazy, if she sees someone pick up a stick she needs to head the other way. It's kindof funny. For the first two weeks she sat in the shade every day because it was too hot. I begged her to make friends and to play with them when they went outside. Now I wish I had just let her sit on the sidelines. :O) Not really. She's having a blast and if these two stick incidents are the worst thing that happen to her, we'll be doing good. Alright, I'm going for now. Maybe I'll write something else before a month has passed.

Alright. I'm sooo done with my kids being sick. They've had this virus that's going around and it keeps coming and going. REALLY!!! It needs to go away and STAY away! Enough of that. Slade has picked up this really cute thing form his Uncle Donnie. Tonight we were at Mom and Dad's cleaning out their basement (been storing stuff for like 5 years). Anyway, we are upstairs eating some dinner and Slade just looks at my dad (Papa) and kisses his two fingers and says, "What up Papa" as he moves his hand into the air over his head! I thought I was going to fall in the floor. It was the greatest thing ever! He's also started making these crazy faces where he rolls his eyes up and twists his mouth. It's hilarious. I'll have to try to take a picture or two and post them. My sweet Savannah did something cute today as well. We were outside on the back porch and Slade was saying something and it included "Savannah". She turned around like lightning and said, "That's the first time he's said that. Say it again." When Slade said her name again, she said, "He did it! He did it! Slade you get a piece of candy!" It was so great! She proceeded to take him inside and get him a Starburst. I loved it! So, that's what is going on with us right now. I hope to write again soon! I knew when I started this it was going to be a challenge for me to be consistent with it. I just have very little time to get on the computer for personal use. I'll try to make time and do better. I REALLY want to keep this up for our family more than anything else. I hope you all have a GREAT day and I will try!!! :O)

Honor! Let's do it!

This is what we do on Wednesday nights. One parent said it is a "high octane family worship experience". That pretty much says it all! This video is from our first ever God Time Live! I've had great responses so far. Keep us in your prayers as you read this blog or watch this video. We are still in the beginning stages of this process and need lots of actors and actresses and also greeters, etc. God is so pulling all of this together and moving in a crazy awesome way! We had about 180 people in our Large Group room on Wednesday. It was jam-packed. My own husband stood out in the hall with some other dads b/c it was so tight in there. We'll be moving to the Well (our other building on campus) so we can handle all of the people. It's a great problem to have but WOW it's a lot of work for our maintenance team. They are super awesome and have worked more than overtime to get everything ready for all of my crazy stuff. They are still painting classrooms and hanging black curtains and all kinds of stuff. They are fantastic and there is no way our staff could do anything without them. Our virtue for the month is Honor and this is reminding me (as I type) that I really need to do something for those guys. Even if it is baking them some cookies. They need to know how much I appreciate all of their hard work. As a matter of fact, I'm sure we all have people in our lives that we could show honor to. The definition we use for Honor is: Letting someone know you see how valuable they really are. Who do you have in your life that you could show honor to? A spouse, a parent, a boss? Let's all show honor this week and let me know who you chose to honor. It should be fun! Happy Honoring!!! :o)

Savannah's first day of Kindergarten

I know it has been a week since I told you I would let you know how Savannah's first day of school went but it has been ridiculously crazy lately. Anyway, as you can see from the pictures, she was sleeping soundly when it was time to wake up. She then decided to crawl under her covers and try to hide from us. Once we got her up, she put her clothes on by herself and Mommy and Daddy helped her fix her hair and brush her teeth. We all took her to school and walked her into her new classroom. She was doing pretty good. She did not want to give the song she had written to her teacher herself. She wanted Mommy to give it to Mrs. Pruett. She decided to be shy again. After giving it to her teacher, it was time for us to go and let Savannah stay and have her first day of school. I will admit, it wasn't the easiest thing in the world but I did pretty good. No crying (at the school). Actually, I was fine until I listened to my cell phone messages. I had received a message from a friend named Jay who called to tell Savannah to have an awesome day and to let me know he was already praying for me that morning. It's sooo cool to have awesome Christian friends that call to encourage you! Anyway, I go to pick her up that afternoon not knowing what to expect. Well...she almost ran to the car with the biggest grin on her face. She got in her carseat and I asked her how her day was. She said, "It was GREAT!!!" As a mom, there were no better words in the entire world at that moment. My baby had had a GREAT day on her first day of school. The world was perfect at that moment and I could actually breath! God is sooo good. He put her with the teacher that fit her perfectly and she already has a great new friend named Emmy. She has also started eating school food instead of us making her a lunch from home each day. She is big time! One thing that was REALLY funny was that I asked her about playing on the playground. She said, "No. I just sat in the shade b/c it was too hot!!!" She said her teacher told her she could go play b/c she wasn't in trouble and she told her no thank you. She was just fine in the shade. Only my Nannah! She is definitely like her mother when it comes to getting up in the morning. The second picture below should show how well she gets up. Pray that she continues to love going to school each day and that she will gain lots of friends in her class.

Our 2008 Family Vacation

I said I wouldn't do much but I really wanted to go ahead and post some of our family vacation pictures while I had this computer home. We went with some of our sweet friends for 2 days to Orlando before going over to Daytona Beach for the week. We had the best time ever! It's always hard to believe how quickly the week passes by. Slade was pretty scared of the ocean to begin with but had a good time as long as someone was holding his hand. Savannah swam like a fish from day one. It was just a GREAT time! Love those family trips spending special time with my hubby and sweet babies. Mom and Dad kept the kids one night so Chris and I could have a date night. He took me to The Chart House and we went to see the new movie Hancock. We definitely need more date nights like that. My favorite days were the two we spent just on the beach with two umbrellas and chairs with the kids building sand castles and eating corn dogs with ice cream dripping all over themselves. PRICELESS!!! Plus, the day we rented the "foewheedurs" as Slade calls them. It was his idea to get BIG 4 wheelers. Okay, hope you enjoy the pictures :o)
